What Makes Summerhill So Great?

Summerhill is a small, tree-lined area just north of Yonge and Bloor that’s centered around the old Summerhill train station (now a popular, and well-stocked, LCBO location).

The area consists of quiet streets, beautiful homes, and convenient access to neighbourhood shopping and Toronto’s downtown core. Summerhill real estate has quickly become one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods to call home – as such, Summerhill even made my list of where to live in Toronto.

Types of Homes

Do you like large, beautiful character homes in a great neighbourhood? Summerhill real estate is for you. It offers large Victorian and Edwardian-style, turn-of-the-century, character houses sitting nicely on Summerhill’s quiet, winding streets. It also isn’t uncommon to see some of the older homes removed to make way for newly built, more modern homes.

You Should See

The LCBO’s Summerhill location is worth checking out; even if you don’t plan on buying anything. The building itself is a beautiful testament to Old Toronto architecture. This former Canadian Pacific Railway train station was beautifully restored in 2003, and still highlights most of the buildings original design and features. This LCBO location also offers many interesting events, like cooking classes and wine tastings that are certainly worth your time.

Neighbourhood Hotspots

After you’ve checked out the Summerhill LCBO, grab a drink at Boxcar Social, inspired flavours of macarons from Nadege Patisserie, and finish with a superb Italian dinner at Terroni.

Getting Around

If you’re in Summerhill, you’re basically downtown, so getting around is truly convenient. You can catch the subway at the TTC’s Summerhill Station, and get to pretty much anywhere in the city. The area is also highly walkable, and if you need to get something done, chances are you won’t have to go far to do it.
