Bells On Bloor – May 31st at Noon

Bells on Bloor is back this year! Hundreds of cyclists of all ages in Toronto will be cycling from High Park to Queen’s Park (Through the Annex) on Sunday May 31, 2009 starting at noon.

Bike Lanes and Parking Study The vision of this group according to their website:

Bells on Bloor was started by a group of idealists with backgrounds in business, art, media, law and social justice who believe that in a democracy, we have the power to choose our reality.

We believe that a world degraded by climate change does not have to be part of our future reality if we make prudent choices today about how we live, get around, and build our cities.

We believe that the massive amounts of greenhouse gas emissions from our transportation sector can be significantly reduced by greater reliance on the world’s most energy efficient mode of transportation – the bicycle.

We envision a city where people of all ages, abilities and income-levels can safely bike to work, where parents can feel comfortable allowing their children to bike to school, where everyone can breathe clean air, and where we all have realistic alternatives to automobile transportation. We believe that streets are for people, and that our public spaces are better used, and our communities healthier and more vibrant, when filled with pedestrians, cyclists, transit vehicles and trees.

Join us, and help make this vision a reality!
