Snow and ice can cause a slippery front walk of your home or in the case of a thaw then quick freeze a sheet of ice not unlike a skating rink. Most of us Torontonians use salt to melt the ice which exposes the surface area which in turn gives traction/grip. However as you can imagine this is not good for our fresh water lakes, vegetation and the poor dogs who get the salt crystals stuck between their paws.

For the last three years our house has used Eco Traction, it is a 100% environmentally safe alternative to salt – it provides grip for those walking on our roads, sidewalks and walkways. I’m sure there are many other good eco-products that give grip as well, like sand…
