Interior Shot of the Porch Light on Kingston Road

The Upper Beaches neighbourhood has grown in popularity over the last ten years. Many clients love their quaint community. Who could blame them? The Upper Beach is a great family neighbourhood close to the Danforth Subway line, several fantastic neighbourly locales abound, and The Beach is incredibly close. We polled some clients and friends about what they most love about their Upper Beaches! Let’s dive in!

The Porch Light

The Porch Light was a resounding favourite restaurant and coffee shop on Kingston Road. The ambiance is comfortable and very kid-friendly, so much so they have a play zone at the back! (the above picture is an interior shot of the space)

Fearless Meats

A favourite burger joint. For those of you craving a burger on a summer day, you can’t beat Fearless Meats. The owner, David, has met Julia Childs, how cool is that? He also offers training tips throughout the year, aka., Fearless University!

Courage Foods

Courage foods is a wonderful, cozy grocery store. It’s as if you are stepping into a great shop in a small town. The smells are incredible. The prepared foods are fantastic. Nothing like running into the shop to grab a last-minute dinner.  At the very least step in and allow the foods to waft over you…now, good luck not buying some excellent grub!

Collected Joy

A very approachable and heartwarming gift store located on Kingston Road (in fact, if you haven’t already noticed all of our suggestions are on Kingston Road, nice and easy to hit all the stops!). This is one of two of their charming stores, and the other one is located in midtown on Mt. Pleasant. We can assure you that if you want to grab a little gift for a loved one, this is the spot. You can’t go wrong!

Ella Minnow Children’s Bookstore

Remember when we used to go to little book shops, where these staff would give excellent suggestions. When the staff would connect and seek to understand what you wanted. The days of old, before algorithms on Amazon and Indigo made book recommendations. This children’s bookstore is much like the shop that Meg Ryan’s character in You’ve Got Mail – go in and see for yourself. It’s a great place to spend some time with the kiddos.

As you can see, there are some great shops to explore in Toronto’s Upper Beach. Go for a stroll along Kingston Road and see for yourself.
