Waterfront Communities

What makes Toronto’s Waterfront Communities Great?

Toronto’s Waterfront Communities began many years ago as the shipping and industrial hub for Toronto and areas surrounding the city. As the years have passed by, the move to the urbanization of the waterfront has transformed the waterfront into a vibrant area supporting tens of thousands of jobs with the likes of Bay Street and King Street. Add into the mix the growth of condos, and you have an exciting place to live and work. Toronto’s waterfront communities are home to King West, the Waterfront (Queens Quay), Distillery District and St Lawrence Market. Each neighbourhood offering wonderful aspects for all to enjoy.

Waterfront Walks

Strolling Lake Ontario’s waterfront is an ideal way to enjoy the sails, cafes and architecture that dot the Queens Quay area. Little parkettes, baseball fields and trails make for a nice way through the downtown waterfront. Also, head further east, and you will find Cherry Beach, a wonderful spot for beaches and dog walking. The Toronto Islands are a must. A quick ferry ride over to the islands offers an amazing escape from the busyness of the city with the long beaches and peaceful views as you gaze back at Toronto’s downtown core.

Cultural Centre of Toronto

The southernmost part of downtown Toronto (Waterfront Communities)  is where the city has its cultural venues, whether classical music venues like Roy Thompson Hall, Four Season Centre for the Performing Arts, or the Mirvish Theatres. Great music venues, sporting venues that act as the home to the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Further east of the downtown core is the Distillery District which offers some incredible buildings and cobblestoned roads that now host wonderful live shows, markets (the Christmas Market is incredible) and other exciting draws year-round.

Most Like New York City

Toronto’s waterfront communities are the most NYC-like of our city’s neighbourhoods. Tall towers, great restaurants, modern condo buildings, lots of people, and the hustle and bustle that only the largest North American cities can offer. Did you know that the city of Toronto is the 4th largest population in North America?
